# Content provenance

Public provenance records distinguish dated product evidence, editorial judgments, AI-generated site media and third-party provider claims.

## Evidence and editorial layers

Dated public observations support product and price statements. Editorial conclusions interpret those observations. Site portraits and motion studies establish visual direction. These layers remain separate so an editorial image cannot silently become evidence of provider performance.

## Public media record

The provenance dataset at `/data/provenance.json` records stable asset IDs, public URLs, media type, source category, AI-generated status, subject classification, editorial role, review date, poster relationships and C2PA status.

The public record excludes local source paths, credentials, private prompts, contracts and unpublished review notes.

## Update integrity

When a material fact changes, the rendered page, Markdown representation, relevant JSON record and dates should change together. When media are removed, page markup, public files, provenance data, structured data, caches and sitemap references must be checked together.
